Book Blogger Love-A-Thon: Interview w/ Erin @ The Readers Hollow

Book_Blogger_Love-A-Thon_2014
As part of the Book Blogger Love-a-Thon, hosted by Alexa at Alexa Loves Books and Kate at Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands, I have the awesome chance to share with you a little bit about one of our fellow bloggers, Erin from The Reader’s Hollow! You should check out her blog ASAP. Erin participates in all sorts of blog tours, giveaways, reveals, etc. for all sorts of genres of books. So if you’re looking for something new, she probably has the 411! I also love that she includes blurbs about the authors in her posts; what a way to promote them rather than just their books!
Here we go…

Me: Tell us about your blog and what you feature on it.

Erin: I feature books of practically all genres from the bestsellers to the ones you’ve never heard of before. Mostly I host for book touring sites but still pick up one or two on my own to review. Basically, I love stories whether they’re YA, horror, fantasy, historical or paranormal, you name it. I have a soft spot for genre fiction and each book has a story to tell and for some reason, I’ve never been able to look away.

Me: Since you’ve started blogging, what are some of your favorite blog/book related memories?

Erin: Meeting new people! The most rewarding part of being a book blogger is getting someone’s story out there. At the very beginning it was just to family and friends but over the year I’ve started to find more and more people who like to do the same thing I do.

Me: Do you have a favorite genre that you tend to gravitate towards?

Erin: Horror. I have a guilty pleasure when it comes to horror. Good character development will draw me in. The more I love them, the more intense the story is, for me. Plus, with horror, it’s meant to be unpredictable and it sneaks into several other genres, much like romance. Just look at Game of Thrones. It’s considered a fantasy but there’s some horrific things going on in there!

Me: Are there any favorite book to movie adaptations you’ve enjoyed (not necessarily YA books)?

Erin: Green Mile! Holy buh-jeebizz. That was one of the best adaptations, in my opinion. I was also pleased with most of the Harry Potter’s, The Help and Fight Club. It’s really hard to make a good movie adaptation of a book. Everyone has a slightly different perception during a book it so it’s a tricky business.

Me:  What was the last book you read that you obsessed over?

Erin: The Kept by James Scott. It was a dark historical fiction that included murder, revenge, and a deeply complicated relationship between a mother and son. Sent chills down my spine at how easily it pulled me in.

For YA, the last one was The Hunger Games. The first book so was so fantastic I devoured it in a day! The other two weren’t as explosive but they were certainly entertaining and I had to know how it ended.

Me:  Anything exciting coming up on your blog that you’d like everyone to know about?

Erin: Well, there’s this Love-A-Thon! I’m really excited to be apart of it and I have tours scheduled all the way up to June of 2014 so I’m stoked to have a good year. The first was a tester, the second is a chance to improve the blog and make it even better

Yay! Thanks to Erin and especially to Alexa and Kate! Can’t wait to meet new bloggers and share my love all  my wonderful bloggy friends!

  1. Fun interview! It’s so fun learning about all of these new bloggers!

My favorite book to movie adaptation is really a book to mini-series adaptation. Has and always wil be the BBC version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – so perfect!

  2. Such a great interview! It was so fun getting to learn a little more about Erin! I agree with Brittany, because horror is such an interesting answer but a multitude of genres contain it so it actually makes sense! I am so glad you were both able to participate :)

  3. Fun q&a, ladies!

Horror is a refreshing genre choice! I need to check out Erin’s recs since I’m not very knowledgable in that category. The Kept sounds very intriguing.

I’m off to check out Erin’s blog! Happy loveathoning, Candice!

  4. That’s just plain awesome. Thanks so much, Candice for everything. And I apologize for my overuse of commas. I’ve been trying to break up with them for almost a year. Haha. Finding all these new bloggers and book lovers is so exciting! Now I just have to figure out Twitter.

  5. I love horror! It’s my favorite genre, right up there with apocalyptic and dystopian. I’m looking forward to reading Fight Club. I really love that movie, and it sounds like Erin thinks it’s a pretty good adaptation, so I’m even more excited! Terrific interview! :D

  6. Great interview! I agree with almost everyone else–horror is not usually a genre you see getting much attention in the blogs, at least the ones I have been reading of late. Which is awesome–I’m all about variety!
